My Story
I grew up on a small Mennonite farm in the rolling hills of southern Iowa. I credit my Mennonite background for my work ethic, my love of minimalism and craftsmanship. From a young age I was helping my great grandfather in his woodworking shop and by 16 I was working full time in construction.
I came to Chicago in 2013 to get my degree in Interior Design at Harrington College of Design. In 2017 I founded my Interior Design firm and later partnered with a kitchen and bath designer to grow the business. In 2023 I founded SFS in order to focus on more passionate projects and provide a boutique feel to my clients, from the start of the process trough to the finished space.
My passion lies in minimalism and modern interior design with an emphasis on architecture. I find inspiration in the small details of design, the unexpected ideas and solutions. I love to work with artisan and craftsman that bring a special expressiveness and originality that can't be found in mass produced items. I love to research and find sources outside of our borders. I have a special fondness for Mexico City and it's amazing modern design community as well as its artists.

When I am working with clients I want to know what truly moves them, excites them, inspires them. My favorite clients are the ones where we can collaborate together and there is a shared passion to really create a space that elevates, defines and expresses their personality and passion.
