Masculine Energy

This design is centered around more of a masculine energy but still a touch of softness and romance. I used strong contrasts in my tones but kept the overall feel light and natural. I drew a lot of inspiration from nature with this design as well as geometric forms. As with my overall aesthetic, I was influenced by more European apartments. This design is intentionally designed to highlight the skin tones of the people that are in the space.

For this design I chose a sofa with interesting lines and a sculptural sense of style to it. I paired it with two club chairs with an interesting cane detail to add both visual interest and a sense of lightness to the space. The slipper stye chair in the camel upholstery complements the sofa nicely while also serving as an interesting accent piece. I intentionally chose this one chair in the camel to provide a visual balance with the two cane accented chairs. For case goods in this space I have selected pieces with harder lines, but interesting details as a counter part to the more circular lines of the sofa.

I accented this design with interesting little details that finish up the space. Lamps, pillows and an area rug that are all interesting but not overwhelming. Originally I had planned on going with a more graphic black and white rug but in the finished design I prefer how this marbled gray rug ties the space together. The black and white became too much of a statement. For art - I chose two large black and white heavily textured pieces that define the design and make a strong statement on their own.

Overall - this is a design that while more masculine in nature it is not overtly so. This is a design that will stand up to trends and not become dated quickly.
